Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue is seeking a return to the Gunners having been let go by Galatasaray in the summer.
The Ivorian endured a torrid 2014-15 season with the Turkish giants as he was left out of the senior squad by manager Cesare Prandelli and forced to play in the reserves.
Eboue departed the club under something of a cloud and has blamed political maneuvering for his exclusion in Istanbul, but he is now eyeing a move back to north London as he seeks a fresh start, per
Colin Harvey
in the
Daily Star
:
"I came back for training [at Galatasaray] and I was told I would not be playing.
The president [Dursun Ozbek] told the manager at the time not to pick me. The way I was treated was very unfair.
We are looking for options and I would love to come back to Arsenal."
The 32-year-old would undoubtedly be welcomed back with open arms by the Arsenal faithful as he was a hugely popular player in his previous spell with the Gunners between 2005 and 2011.
However, from a footballing point of view it would seemingly make little sense for manager Arsene Wenger to re-sign him.
Though he is an experienced right-back, he has not played top-level football for over a year, and the Gunners already have a number of options in his position.
Hector Bellerin is the undisputed No. 1 right-back at Arsenal, while Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers can provide cover, and
Carl Jenkinson will return from his West Ham United loan spell at the end of the season.
Elsewhere, Arsenal have reportedly asked to be "kept informed" about the availability of Paris Saint-Germain's Adrien Rabiot this month, per
James Olley
in the
Evening Standard
.
The report indicated that the 20-year-old Frenchman has fallen out with the Ligue 1 giants hierarchy having complained about his lack of game time—he has started only nine top-flight games this season, per
WhoScored.com
—and he could be available for around €
30 million (£22.8 million).
Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe recently mooted the possibility of a loan move for Rabiot to Arsenal, given that the Gunners have long been interested in him:
