The 33-year-old has signed a one-year deal which will reportedly make him the highest-paid player in the S.League's history
Jermaine Pennant has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with S.League outfit Tampines Rovers at a signing ceremony held at the Komoco Motors Showroom. The former Liverpool and Arsenal winger has been training with the club and will reportedly take home a salary of Sg$40,000 (£19,500) a month, making him the highest-paid player in the league's history.
"I have to thank my teammates for making me feel welcomed since I have arrived," the 33-year-old said. "They have been fantastic by showing me lots of respect and I have a lot of respect for them too.
Pennant came to prominence when Arsenal paid Notts County £2 million for the 15-year-old and he scored a hat-trick on his full league debut, before a series of loan moves saw him join Liverpool permanently.
Spells with the likes of Portsmouth, Real Zaragoza, Stoke City followed after falling out of favour at Anfield and was last seen playing in the Championship with Wigan during the 2014-15 season.
He continued: "Everybody involved with the club has been great, the country is fantastic and the support that everybody has been showing is fantastic as well.
"It looks like it’s going to be a good season and I want to try and help the league. I feel more pressure which I didn’t feel last week but I’m sure I can deal with that so hopefully it will all go well."
