Real Madrid reportedly want to offload Toni Kroos to Manchester United in order to fund a pursuit for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
According to A Bola (h/t Luke Gardener of the Daily Star), the Spanish giants want to get a deal done for the Uruguay international this month after being hit with a two-window transfer ban, which will begin in the summer. It’s suggested Real are willing to offload Kroos for £40.5 million.
Kroos hasn’t reached the same standards as in his debut season at the Santiago Bernabeu. Under former manager Rafael Benitez he didn’t have a settled spot in the side, with the coach altering the structure of the midfield regularly.
Zinedine Zidane has taken over the managerial spot, though, and while he’s only had one game in charge, Kroos seemed a lot more at ease in the team, per Squawka Football:
Real could certainly do with another striker, though. Cavani’s style of forward play would certainly add a new dimension to the team’s attack.
As French football journalist Andrew Gibney noted recently, after a disappointing spell of form, the PSG supporters are beginning to make their feelings known towards the Uruguayan:
PSG are unlikely to sell Cavani too. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract set to expire at the end of the campaign, there could potentially be a massive void to fill at the point of the attack.
After being shunted out to the wings for large portions of his career with the French giants, the former Napoli man will surely be willing to wait for what could be a brilliant opportunity.
